The painting by Nicolas Louis Gosse (1787-1878) is preserved at the Château de Versailles.
On July 7, 1807, Tsar Alexander I and Emperor Napoleon I, the two most powerful rulers in continental Europe, signed a secret treaty at Tilsit, a small fortified town in East Prussia (also known as Tilsitt).
The miniature shows Napoleon Bonaparte, Talleyrand, Tsar Alexander I and his wife.
