18th Century Peter the Great English Oak Chair

The history of this chair is that it was made by czar peter the great circa 1700s. Peter was to have crafted this chair using wood from the ship because he wanted a chair large enough for his 6’8” frame.
If you look online, you can see pictures of chairs, and other wooden object made by Peter the Great, and experienced woodworker, on display at Moscaws kolomenskoye state museum reserve. The chair was sold at Christie’s in the early 1800s.

In 1918, the chair was sold to Helen Bach circa 1885 to 1962 who was an antique dealer in New York City married to Count Jean De Strelecki. At that time, the New York Times printed an article about the chair, and it’s origins. This article was taped to the back of the chair for years, but sadly deteriorated and was lost.
