Antique Belgian Wood Blanket Chest

Belgium, ca. early 19th century. An impressive and practical antique scrubbed pine chest. Features wide six board construction with handwrought iron hinges supported by sled base. Small interior compartment would have been used for gloves, valuables, etc. From a time when textiles were a prized commodity, the raised legs would have helped protect the contents from the occasional house mouse. In overall excellent antique condition with great scale and honest surface patina.
