Italian Lyre Chest of Drawers with Inlays and Three Drawers, 1800s

Walnut Lyre Chest of Drawers with Three Drawers 1800 from Piedmont in excellent condition – it was restored approximately twenty years ago. The shelf feet are decorated on the front by a carving with foliage and racemes which is repeated on the external frame that frames the drawers, which are in turn decorated by an oval tableau with geometric decorations made with boxwood inlay, around the escutcheon flush with the lock. The lyre-shaped sides, the top with central inlay in an oval field with a chariot with horse and figures on an ebonized pear tree background. The top was replaced in the past compared to the original which was supposed to be in marble. Piedmont, first half of the 19th century.
