Tthis beautiful cast iron statue of Bishop Augustine of Hippo full of Patina. The image of H. Augustinus of Hippo was made by the Catholic Institute of Vaucoureurs (Union International Artistique de Vaucouleurs), a former factory of Christian religious art, founded in 1865 by Martin Pierson. The factory produces works that can be found in churches and chapels, among others. Including this image made of cast iron of over 200 kilos, which can be seen from the points (holes) with which the image could be attached to the floor. The already famous bishop in his own days served the church in the modest port city of Hippo Regius on the Mediterranean Sea for almost forty years. He was loved for his wisdom and mildness as a pastor, was feared for his intelligence and sharp pen. But he is often depicted with a red -beating heart in his hands, as a symbol of his “living mercy”. This very charming and speaking image has a beautiful color and patina. The image is beautifully modeled and detailed and is made of cast iron and from each side an amazing item to see. Dimensions: Height: 159 cm Width: 60 cm Depth: 49 cm
