Vintage Large Patinated Brass or Bronze Asian Elephant Signed “La Puce”

This large and charming vintage brass, perhaps bronze, patinated elephant stands with it’s trunk raised and tusks outstretched. It is signed “La Puce” which translates to the flea in French. Perhaps a pun on the size of the elephant depicted? Or an artist signature? Unsure.
It is embellished with cast decorative elements, indicating it is Indian or perhaps Southeast Asian. With a French inscription perhaps it is Vietnamese. A decorative and exotic accent to your decor. It’s left ear has a brass spot showing through the patination…. perhaps the previous owner would walk by and rub the ear for good luck!
